Hi Pet Lovers!
Have you ever wondered what would happen if your pet escaped your house during a natural disaster such as a thunderstorm, tornado or hurricane? You may think your pet can be safely returned because they wear a collar and name tag. Unfortunately, collars and tags can come off or get lost and many pets never find their way home. Microchips are a form of permanent ID for your pet. They are a small, rice-grain sized, chip that is implanted quickly and easily under the skin between your pet’s shoulder blades via injection. This microchip contains a unique ID number that can be read with an RFID (radio frequency identification) scanner. Microchips ARE NOT A GPS unit. In order to emit a constant signal, as a GPS does, there would need to be a battery – batteries are simply not safe to implant under the skin. If your dog becomes lost, having a microchip registered with your information will increase the chances of being reunited with your pet by 85%! Collars and tags can fall off – especially during scary times for your pet, but a microchip is with your pet at all times.
The microchips we use contain a 15 digit ID number, meaning they are ISO compatible and can be used for travel overseas. We register the chip for you and you receive a confirmation email so you can log on and change your phone number or address anytime – free of charge! If your pet already has a microchip, that is wonderful! We highly recommend you check the information registered to your pet’s chip and make sure it is up to date. If you are unsure how to register your pet’s chip, we can help you! If your pet is not microchipped, come on in and save $10 this month (regularly $50).
