Dr. Blanton is a 2000 graduate of Purdue University. She was born and raised in central Indiana, but has lived in various states including Texas, Delaware, and Oklahoma. Her husband, John Blanton, is currently the Department Head of Animal and Dairy Sciences at Mississippi State University. They have two children - John and Olivia - as well as 2 cats, a Great Dane, a Chihuahua, a few calves, and 7 horses. Dr. Blanton enjoys reading, showing horses, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Kay is a 2014 graduate of the Pennsylvania University College of Veterinary Medicine. Her husband, Will Kay, is also a veterinarian who is completing a residency in the neurology department at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. The couple spent their first year as Veterinarians working at busy referral practices in California. We congratulate the Kays in the newest addition to their family - James Jackson Kay - born in late 2016! Dr. Kay has an Italian Greyhound, Gia, Shepherd Mix named Bailey, and Winston, a Laborador. Dr. Kay enjoys reading, DIY projects and visiting her family in Pennsylvania.
Desiree Cooley, DVM
Dr. Cooley is a 2014 graduate of the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Cooley is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture which is a wonderfully non-invasive method of treating some common ailments. Dr. Cooley has several pets including a horse, a borrowed donkey, a dog and three cats. She enjoys horseback riding, reading, walking her dog, going to the gym and doing yoga.
Danielle has been working with animals for several years now. She has been with Animal Clinic of Columbus since 2013. She is currently working on obtaining her certification in Veterinary Technology. She has two Dachshunds - Emma and Ellie - as well as Belvah, a German Shepherd. All the pups love playing with her son Brayden. They also like spending family time outside.
Kellen is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Technician Program at Penn Foster University as well as taking classes locally at EMCC. She has 2 dogs of her own, Salli, a Siberian Husky, Karis, a Weimeraner as well as 2 Himalayan cats named Toby and Tilly. She grew up in a house full of animals of all species including rabbits, birds, lizards, fish, rodents and of course cats and dogs! Kellen has always had a great love of all animals and enjoys taking her pets on walks and teaching them new tricks. Kellen joined our staff in February 2014.
Alex is currently enrolled in college classes at Mississippi State University, on track to become an excellent veterinarian! She is very interested in veterinary medicine and has several pets of her own, including horses, cows and a puppy. Her life has evolved around animals for as long as she can remember. In her spare time she likes to hunt and ride Tennessee Walking horses competitively.
Chelsea Parsons - Veterinary Assistant
Chelsea is a military spouse we are proud to have as one of our team members! Chelsea is originally from Maine, she has 3 fur-kids and enjoys playing with them and spending time outdoors.
Becky Worsham - Veterinary Assistant
Becky joins us from the Human medicine side. She is an EMT and her primary job is ambulance technician. Becky joined our team to learn more about veterinary medicine and may wish to pursue a career as a veterinarian in the future.
Jessica Horton - Veterinary Assistant
Jessica is a Columbus, MS native who recently returned from a stent in Hawaii! She has two dogs and a loving husband. Jessica joined our team in 2017.
